About the project
Elia Wellness is a learning management system (LMS) where adults over 50 take courses and build health habits at the same time. The program comes from the Sydney Adventist Church, and its content is drawn from the church's well-known book Live More.
The brief asked for more than online lessons. Every module carries a wellness element, so learners can track, share and celebrate progress on any screen.
Scope of work: strategy and the path from idea to product, plus the website, the web app and the mobile app.
The problem we had to solve
Most health and learning apps are not designed with older adults in mind. Screens are crowded, and the guidance this audience wants is often missing. To work, Elia Wellness needed to:
- Feel easy to use, whether a learner is confident with phones and laptops or rarely touches them.
- Offer wellness content people can measure, so each course changes something real.
- Reach past a typical e-learning tool with game mechanics, a community layer and hands-on wellness tracking, so older users feel in control of their health.
How we designed it
We designed Elia Wellness around its users first, with plain navigation, readable layouts and accessible UI and UX choices. Modules adapt to phones, tablets and desktops, so learners stay engaged wherever they open the app. Five core experiences shape the product.
Posting and cheering on progress
Learners publish updates to a community feed, where friends can like and comment. Progress becomes something people share.

A score across seven dimensions of wellness
Each learner gets one wellness score built from seven areas: emotionally thriving, growth mindset, actively engaged, environmentally attuned, socially connected, physically energised and spiritually empowered. The wheel shows strengths and gaps.

Lessons assembled from blocks
Authors put lessons together from text, image, video and challenge blocks. Any module can then pair a lesson with a practical wellness task.

Badges and a personal bucket list
Finishing lessons unlocks bucket-list items, like watching a sunrise or taking a stretching day. Small rewards keep learners coming back.

Daily and weekly progress
A daily card and a weekly chart show learners how far they have come, which makes the effort feel worth it.

What the finished platform includes
The finished product joins an LMS and a wellness tracker in one place. As an MVP design agency, we took it from first idea to a working product with these parts:
- Authoring tools for building lessons, modules and tutorials.
- Challenges and progress tracking that keep learners active.
- Seven wellness dimensions with scoring, giving every learner personal metrics.
- Game mechanics like badges that give people a reason to return.
- A built-in community feed that turns personal goals into a shared effort.
Authors manage modules and lessons in one builder.

On their phones, learners move freely between lessons, challenges, a personal growth questionnaire and their score.

A short questionnaire comes before each course. On tablets it uses big tap areas and simple rating scales.

The outcome
Elia Wellness grew from a local program into a worldwide community, with 40% more registrations and a 30+ boost in wellness scores among active users. Our product design agency team built it as a place where people support each other toward healthier, happier lives.
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| User registrations | +40%, growing from local origins to a worldwide wellness community |
| Wellness scores among active users | 30+ boost, reflecting reduced stress and improved resilience |
